The domestic-focused REIT and housing sector outperformed today as US stocks sold off by the most this year following the worst week for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq since late 2018. The S&P 500 dipped 3.0% while the Nasdaq dipped 3.5%. The Hoya Capital US REIT Index, meanwhile, finished the day lower by 2.0% as the 10-Year yield plunged another 11 basis points to the lowest level since October 2016. The net lease, healthcare, and cell tower sectors were the relative winners on the day while the apartment, hotel, and mall sectors were the relative losers.

The Hoya Capital US Housing Index finished the day lower by 2.2% after breaching new all-time record highs last week. The Real Estate Technology and Brokerage and Mortgage Lenders and Services were the relative underperformers on the da while the Homebuilding Products and Residential REIT category were the relative outperformers. The economic calendar this week is light with JOLTs data tomorrow and CPI data on Friday.
