Stocks Slide As Fears Become Contagious [Daily Recap]

  • U.S. equity markets sold-off on Friday by the most since last October as softer-than-expected economic data and mounting fears over the spread of the coronavirus erased 2020's earlier gains.
  • The S&P 500 finished lower by 1.8% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 600 points, each ending the week lower by more than 1.5%.
  • The 10-Year Treasury Yield continued to slide as investors piled into safe-haven assets, declining another 4 basis points to the lowest levels since September at 1.52%.
  • The broad-based commercial Real Estate ETF (VNQ) outperformed on the day, but still finished lower by 1.2% with all sixteen REIT sectors in negative territory on the day.
  • Stay tuned for full coverage of this week's economic data in our Real Estate Weekly Outlook report published tomorrow morning.
